Following the 2022 parliamentary elections and referendum held in a joint procedure, the NEO collected the proposals of the electoral offices and incorporated them into the procedure. The NEO has recently introduced or modernised a number of innovations and improvements that facilitate the administration and information of voters, candidates and nominating organisations, as well as the work of electoral bodies. The most important of these are the following.
- From 1 December 2023, the renewal of e-filing will allow voters to receive a decision on their application within seconds of submitting it online, in most cases.
- The Election Information System (EIS) has been renewed and will be available on valasztas.hu. This is where all election information is displayed, from calling the elections to the publication of the results.
- With the 2024 European Parliament and local elections approaching, the NVI started publishing the number of voters by municipality on valasztas.hu in December 2023. The service will update information for voters on the Election Information System on a weekly basis until the calling of the elections, and then on a daily basis until the day of the vote.
- To provide as much information as possible to candidates and nominating organisations, an informative election booklet has been produced, including detailed information on the process of becoming a candidate, the campaign and procedural deadlines.
- For the first time, training films have been produced for members of electoral commissions, showing in detail, with practical examples, the tasks and procedural rules on polling day.
- For the 2024 elections, the NEO has also prepared information videos for voters, which contain the most important information on the elections. The videos will be available on public service channels and online.
- Launched with the 2022 parliamentary elections, the "KITAJ" (Who did I recommend?) service will be available for the 2024 elections. The service allows voters to check which candidates or nominating organisations they have supported with their signature.
- On valasztas.hu, voters can find information in English, German, French and Spanish, as well as Hungarian.
- A QR code has been added to the election notices to make it easier to access the electronic administration.
- The NVI has redesigned the application-submission applications available on the Magyarorszag.hu website in order to handle the automatic administration that was introduced with the amendment of the Ve. The application interfaces were designed with simplicity and user-friendliness in mind, taking no more than 2-3 minutes to submit an application.
- As part of the IT development, in addition to the numerous software upgrades and updates, the election workstations were replaced. More than a thousand new computers and printers have been distributed to the electoral offices.
Through innovations and best practices, the National Election Office aims to provide a wide range of information and simplify administration for all those involved in the election process, be they voters, candidates and nominating organisations or the staff of electoral bodies.
