Budapest, 17 April 2024 – On Saturday 20 April 2024, the campaign period for the 9 June elections to the European Parliament, local government and minority self-government will begin and will run until 19:00 on election day. Candidates and nominating organisations can start to collect nominations for all three types of elections.
For the European Parliament elections, parties can collect voters' recommendations on signature collection forms issued by the National Election Office. The signature collection forms for the EP elections will be issued by the NEOH on the working day following the application, but not earlier than Saturday 20 April at 8 am. Candidate organisations wishing to receive their nomination forms on Saturday morning must submit their request by Thursday 18 April at 4 p.m. at the latest. To be eligible for the European Parliament elections, voters must submit a valid recommendation, certified by the signatures of 20 000 voters, by 4 p.m. on Friday 3 May 2024.
Candidates for mayor, single list candidates, single constituency candidates and candidates for minority self-government may be proposed on the proposal form requested from the competent local election office. The nomination forms for the recommendation of the candidate for the mayor of Budapest can be requested from the Budapest Election Office. The deadline for the nomination of the candidates for the above-mentioned candidates is Monday 6 May 2024 at 4 p.m.
In the case of the county list and the regional nationality list, recommendations can be collected on the recommendation forms issued by the regional election office, and in the capital by the Budapest Election Office. For national minority lists, recommendations can be made on the recommendation form issued by the National Election Office. Nominating organisations have until 4 p.m. on 7 May 2024 (Tuesday) to submit their nominations for the county list, regional and national minority lists.

In parallel with the start of the recommendation collection, the Who I recommended (KITAJ) recommendation checker service will be available again for voters. The service allows voters to check which candidate or list they have supported with their signature during the recommendation period of the elections. However, it is important to emphasise that only recommendations that have been checked are included in the system. In the run-up to the 2022 parliamentary elections, the National Election Office launched its online recommendation verification service with the aim of promoting electoral integrity and boosting public confidence.
