Budapest, 4 September 2024 - Pursuant to Article 13 of Act XXXVI of 2013 on Electoral Procedure, following the general elections the President of the National Election Commission (NEC) shall report to Parliament on the activities of the NEC, while the President of the National Election Office (NEO) shall report on the organisation and conduct of state tasks related to the elections.
Dr. Róbert Sasvári will present the activities of the NEC, including the role of election commissions, the practice of registering nominating organisations and the most important decisions of the Commission and the Curia related to campaign remedies.
In his report, Dr. Attila Nagy, President presents the cornerstones of the preparation of the 2024 general elections, including the way of preparing the electoral bodies, the conduct of voting and IT tasks. The President of the National Election Office once again draws the attention of the National Assembly to the fact that the number of voters in the seven single-member constituencies of Pest County exceeded the national average by more than 20% on polling day, therefore - pursuant to Article 4 (6) of Act CCIII of 2011 on the Election of Members of Parliament - the constituency allocation must be amended by the end of 2024 at the latest. Furthermore, based on the trends of the past years, in Somogy, Tolna and Fejér counties, the deviation of the number of voters from the national average is expected to exceed minus 20% in the near future in the single-member constituencies in each of the counties, so that the situation of single-member constituencies in these counties should be considered to be settled.
