    Three-day trial of the electoral IT system successfully completed with the participation of all election offices. During the test, the staff of the election offices carried out their tasks related to the closing of the electoral roll, printing on election day, testing both the IT and administrative elements. The IT system worked well during the main test.

  • Members of the European Parliament and national minority representatives elected on 9 June received their credentials

    The President of the National Election Commission, Dr. Róbert Sasvári and the President of the National Election Office, Dr. Attila Nagy handed over the credentials of the representatives who won seats in the European Parliament and the national minority elections at a ceremony.

  • Election posters to be removed by 9 July

    According to the law, posters for the local, minority and European Parliament elections of 9 June 2024 must be removed by 4 p.m. on 9 July. After the deadline, local authorities are responsible for removing election posters and for charging the costs of removal.

  • Reruns in eight municipalities, by-elections in eight others

    Due to infringement of the law in the 9 June 2024 elections, voting will be repeated in several municipalities in early July. Six municipalities have decided to repeat the mayoral elections and two municipalities have decided to repeat the Roma municipal elections. Several by-elections will also take place, mainly due to a tie.

  • The local election offices of Budapest districts have delivered the invalid ballot papers of the election of the Mayor of the capital to the NEO

    In accordance with the decision of the National Election Commission recorded in the minutes of 12 June 2024, the President of the National Election Office (NEO) instructed the local election offices of Budapest districts to hand over the invalid ballot papers of the election of the Mayor of the capital in such a way that at least three members of the local election offices and the members of the local election commissions participate in the process.

  • The NEC decided on the recount of invalid votes in the election of the Mayor of the capital

    At its meeting of 12 June 2024, the National Election Commission decided to recount the invalid votes of the 9 June 2024 mayoral election, for which it requested the assistance of the National Election Office.

  • Voting closes successfully

    The 9 June elections to the European Parliament, local government and minority self-government, which will be held in a joint procedure, were a success. Voters could cast their votes at the designated polling stations between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. 59.26% of citizens eligible to vote cast their ballot.

  • 9 June - election day

    The President of the Republic, Dr. Tamás Sulyok, has set 9 June 2024 as the date for the election of local government representatives and mayors, as well as Hungarian members of the European Parliament. The National Election Commission has set the same date for the election of representatives of minority self-governments. Voting on the day of the joint elections will take place between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., after presentation of valid identity documents and signing the electoral roll.

    With the start of the election campaign period, the "Who did I recommend?" recommendation checker service is once again available to voters. The service allows citizens to check online which candidate or list they have supported with their signature.
